Okeechobee County is in the process of developing a new five year strategic plan to create a shared vision between the residents of Okeechobee County and their elected officials. This plan will serve as a roadmap for the future. It is designed to evolve over time in response to the changing needs of the county.

In preparation of our FY2024 Strategic Plan for Okeechobee County, we would like to remind our residents of the County's mission and vision for our county:

• Mission: Okeechobee County will provide responsive government services, to its citizens, in a well-managed, cost effective, fiscally sound, policy driven manner. All services provided shall benefit the health, safety and welfare of the community.
  
  
• Vision: A community with a small town environment that fosters a desirable place to live, work, and play.

Okeechobee County began creating strategic plans to identify five-year projections into future services and needs. These plans help departments set or update priorities, strengthen operations, ensure that employees and other stakeholders within the county are working toward common goals, establish agreement for intended results, and assess and adjust the department's direction in response to a changing environment.

On September 28, 2023, the Okeechobee County Board of County Commissioners approved the Strategic Plan Survey to be distributed to the community in preparation of our FY2024 Strategic Plan for our county.  To view the presentation, click here: Sept 28 BOCC Presentation on Strategic Plan

Based upon the results of the Survey from our county residents, strategic planning, workshops, and interviews with key community stakeholders, we anticipate having the Strategic Plan approved by the BOCC and implemented in Spring of 2024.
