Okeechobee County BOCC currently observes the following holidays, as well as any other days declared by the Board. These holidays are paid to all classified and probationary County employees scheduled to work on such days:  Authorized annual paid holidays approved by the Board of County Commissioners are:

New Years Day
Martin Luther King Day
Good Friday
Memorial Day
Independence Day
Labor Day
Veterans Day
Thanksgiving - (2 days) Thanksgiving Day and the day after Thanksgiving 
Christmas - (2 days) Christmas Day and the day after Christmas

When a county observed holiday falls on a Saturday, the preceding Friday shall be observed as the official holiday. When a county observed holiday falls on a Sunday, the following Monday shall be observed as the official holiday.
 
Temporary, part-time and part-time regular employees are not eligible for paid holidays. Holidays are paid for all regular full-time employees only. 

To be paid holiday pay, the employee must work the rest of their regularly scheduled week or have vacation and/or sick time to apply which together with the hours worked equals a regular work week. If a day of work is missed during a holiday week and the employee does not have accrued time to compensate for the missed day, they will not be paid holiday time.
