ADDRESSING THE COMMISSION - Please state your name and address, speaking clearly into the microphone. If you have backup material, please have eight copies ready for distribution.

DECORUM - Always be respectful of others opinions and maintain decorum throughout the meeting.

GENERAL RULES AND PROCEDURES -   The prepared agenda determines the order of business conducted at each Board meeting with the below outline:

PUBLIC COMMENT - Time is allotted at the beginning of each meeting for general public comment. Please limit comments to three minutesThe Board of County Commissioners is committed to providing opportunities for public input under public comment during each board meeting. Time is allotted for public comments at the beginning of the agenda during each Commission meeting.

Public speaking is organized using a speaker registration process with a time limit of 3 minutes to accommodate as much input as possible from those attending. The Chairman reserves the right to alleviate from the 3-minute time limit for a particular topic and speaker. These time limits ensure adequate time to address the business agenda and needs of the Commission.

CONSENT AGENDA:  These items are considered routine and are enacted by one motion. There will be no separate discussion of these items unless a Commissioner so requests.

PROCLAMATIONS:  To request formal recognition from the Board of County Commissioners by the issuance of a Proclamation, please view the "Proclamation Policy, Guidelines and Request Form".

PUBLIC HEARINGS: 
These time designations are intended to indicate that an item will not be addressed prior to the listed time. The Chair will open each public hearing and asks anyone wishing to speak on the item to come forward, one at a time.  Comments will be limited to five minutes

GENERAL BUSINESS: 
These items are generally Department or Citizen requests items which the Commission will discuss individually usually in the order listed on the agenda.

ADMINISTRATION REPORT
: These items are not agenda items, however are updates to the Board of projects or upcoming meetings and/or events.

COMMISSIONER REPORTS: These are discussion or items presented by an individual Commissioner or staff as necessary at the conclusion of the printed agenda. 

As a general rule, when issues are scheduled before the Commission under department request or public hearing, the order of presentation is: (1) County staff presents the details of the Board item (2) Commissioners comment (3) if a public hearing, the Chair will ask for public comment, (4) further discussion and action by the Board.

MEETINGS - All Board meetings are open to the public and are held on the second Thursday of each month at 9 a.m.. and on the fourth Thursday at 9 a.m., unless otherwise advertised.  All meetings are recorded and streamed live through our website. Meetings are held in "The William L. Hendry Courtroom", in the Okeechobee County Historic Courthouse at 304 NW 2nd Street, Room 270, Okeechobee, FL 34972.   Additionally, the Board schedules workshops throughout the year necessary to accomplish their goals and commitments. Notice is provided of these workshops.
