The Purchasing Department serves as the County's central procurement arm for the acquisition of goods and services, capital equipment and construction. We strive to obtain the best value for the County's dollar while ensuring that all procurement activities are conducted in a legal, ethical, and professional manner. Central to the County's Purchasing philosophy is the concept of "Price with Value," while maintaining an "even playing field" for all bidders. The Purchasing Division accomplishes this goal by developing effective systems, methods and procedures for all County staff and vendors to follow, thereby ensuring maximum return to our residents.

State and local government agencies throughout the State of Florida, like Okeechobee County, utilize Vendor Registry and DemandStar for distribution of solicitations - including documents and addenda, vendor management and award management. Many participating agencies also utilize the electronic bid submission option for vendors to submit responses directly online through the platform. In addition, our content team of researchers visits thousands of agency websites, newspapers, and other locations to aggregate open solicitations from non-participating agencies to alert registered vendors of matching opportunities.
