Public Safety Coordinating Council (PSCC)

  • Introduction: The County Board of County Commissioners established the county Public Safety Coordinating Council (PSCC) to assess the population status of all detention or correctional facilities owned by the County to formulating recommendations to ensure that the capacities of such facilities are not exceeded.

The Okeechobee County Board of County Commissioners established the county Public Safety Coordinating Council (PSCC) to assess the population status of all detention or correctional facilities owned by the County to formulating recommendations to ensure that the capacities of such facilities are not exceeded.

This Council consists of:  35 Members consisting of: Judges, Commissioners, State Attorneys, Public Defenders, Sheriff, Deputies, Citizens in Mental Health Care, Case Managers, and other citizens of the community.

Meeting Schedule:

  • Meetings:  1st Tuesday of every other month or on an as needed basis.
  • Location:  Historic Courthouse, 304 NW 2nd Street, Room 201, Okeechobee, FL 34972
  • The council shall make recommendations for the effective operation of special projects and perform such other duties as may be prescribed by county ordinance or resolution.

The PSCC Council meets on the 1st Tuesday of every other month (or on an as needed basis).  The Council meetings are subject to change and are typically posted at least 7 days prior to meeting in the Public Notice of the local newspaper.
